Short tail keywords may bring a lot of traffic but only few had success using highly competitive keywords. Using long tail keywords give you the chance to rank first page in Google because keywords used have only few competitors.
The long tail keywords may bring fewer visitors to your website than the short tail searches, but more of them will be ready to purchase.
